Watching Keegan Grow: 3 Years and then some...

Well, I am super behind, per the usual. I was reminded by my lovely friend who reads this blog frequently, that I have not done a Watching Keegan Grow post in a long time. The fact is, time has really gotten away from me lately. With the craziness of the holidays, Keegan going to school, work, putting the time into a new relationship and yet still making time for myself has put blogging on the back burner. I want to have time to write it all down, but I also want to focus on our face to face time as well. Less screen time, more one on one time.

So, with that, I decided that yes, I really should write up this post. Keegan has been growing at a crazy rapid pace lately and I want to be able to remember it all. When we switch and I get him back after the long 5 day stretch without him, he is a different kid. He says full sentences with ease, some that should be coming out of my own mouth, they make me laugh. He has loved going to school and his teachers are fantastic. He has learned so much from them and he has grown into his own little person. He can count to 20, spell his name, and write the letter K and E, left handed of course.

He can dance like a mad man, he can sing the chorus to Adele's "Hello". He loves to bake and help with the laundry. He was giving me a run for my money in the last few months with eating, I swore the kid wouldn't eat anything. But recently, he has turned it around and now I swear he has a hollow leg. One night he sat and ate 2 bowls of noodles, 4 carrots, 2 slices of garlic bread, one cheese stick, some snap peas, a banana and 2 glasses of milk. My God, where did it all go?

He is now in 3T to 4T clothes. He loves to wear his comfy clothes on the weekends and loves his PJ's. He loves to color, read books, watch Toy Story and play with his Millennium Falcon. Oh and he is OBSESSED with Star Wars. The force is strong with this one and Momma could not be happier.

Well Baby Boy, I hope this pretty much sums it up. You are my favorite person on earth and it has been a privilege to be your Momma. I am so proud of who you have become, even though sometimes you kill me with your 5 am wake up calls, I wouldn't trade our time together for anything in the world.

I'll finish off this post with one of our recent conversations. We perpetually say this back and forth at least three times a day:

Keegan: Hey Mommy, Know What?
Mommy: What?
Keegan: I Love You.
Mommy: I Love You Too.
Keegan: Yes (with a fist pump to the sky!)

Watching Keegan Grow: 2 1/2

Yep, he's already here. Closer to 3 than 2. I can't believe what a beautiful little man you have become. You are kind,  and caring and yet just a little bit more stubborn than you were a few short months ago. You are my photogenic perfect mix of your Mommy and Daddy.

You are funny, quirky, independent. You love watch movies, playing cars and dancing to all the Raffi songs ever made (this could not make your Momma more proud). Your favorite song is Tingalayo (the donkey song) or Baby Beluga or Knees up Mother Brown or whichever one is playing that you can  jump up and dance to.

You love to go on adventures and explore new things. You love learning new skills. You love to giggle with your whole body, especially when making up crazy new words no one has heard of (dipa, chi chi, boopie).  You are amazingly adaptable. You go back and forth between our two houses without even batting an eye. It makes me sad to think about the days I miss out on with you, but you always come back more grown up than the last time I saw you.

You love to watch CeeCee run around like crazy and roar at her like a dinosaur. Actually, you love to roar like a dinosaur in general. You have your crabby side that can rear its ugly head like no other, but you are always so sweet and remorseful after you calm down.

You love to cuddle up with your mommy every single night and read books together in my big bed. You let me sing Rock a Bye Baby and You Are My Sunshine to you every single night when you are with me.

You changed me as a person, someone who has taught me patience and understanding. You taught me that even though I may beat myself up for being short or getting frustrated, you will still give me a hug at night and tell me, "I love you Mommy, You're my Favorite." You love your Momma something fierce, and you are very protective of me.You love me no matter what and that, my favorite little man, is the best part of being your Momma.

Watching Keegan Grow: A Late 2 Year Post

Keegan has grown so much in the last few weeks, let alone the last few months. He is a huge talker. He says something every single day that just amazes me. " Momma, I be right back...", is my favorite right now. He picks up on everything. So, since I have been so behind on blog posts lately, I thought I would do one about Keegan at 2 years and 3 months. Here goes!

How big: 2 Years and 3 Months

Activties I love: Reading books to Mommy, playing cars on my rug, watching Frozen (omg.....), Coloring/Painting, running, listening to Raffi, playing on his "puter", singing Frosty the Snowman, chasing the cat, walking in the snow, driving his zebra to Daddy's house or the store, play dates with his bff Dia, playing trains, making pizza in his kitchen, jumping on mommy's bed

Favorite Phrases: "Momma, I be right back...", " HUH! What's tat noise?", "Somebody's here!", "Mommy, don't sing tat!" "CeCe get down!" " I not Bug (my nickname for him), I Keegan!"

Favorite Foods: Candy canes! Oranges, Pizza, Mac and Cheese, Carrots, Pea Pods, Applesauce, Turkey, Hot Dogs, Grapes, Raspberries, Blueberries, Cookies, Crackers, Milk

Least Favorite Things: The vacuum, anything that takes him away from playing, having to go the potty chair when he is in the middle of things makes him not want to go at all, not getting what he wants (not a surprise there!)

Fun Facts: He loves to be cuddled up after waking up from naptime or in the morning and it makes me sooooo happy. He loves to get wrapped up, "Like a baby Mommy!", he says and then we hang out and watch a movie or show for a few minutes until he totally wakes up. We also started on the potty training adventure in the last 3 weeks and it has been a challenge. He still does not know when to tell me when he has to go, but he will always go when we put him on the potty. The good thing is that his dad and I are on the same page when it comes to this, so we are able to discuss where we are at with it and where to go next. I can't imagine what it would be like to do this if we had a hard time communicating. Hopefully, we will start getting the hang of it soon and can move out of the diaper stage!

I still can't believe how fast he has grown up. This last year was a huge change in all of our lives and he has been the best through everything. He is such an amazingly smart, caring, and kind little boy. Thanks for letting me enjoy the ride watching you grow bug! I love you Keegan.

Watching Keegan Grow: 18 Months

Wow, time has flown. I feel like last year at the time he was just starting to move around. Now he is almost running, wanting to walk everywhere and practically bouncing off the walls in this house. We are sooooooo looking forward to warmer weather! We actually even got a taste of some warmer temps here last week almost immediately followed by snow a few short days later. It's coming though. Spring is here!

Anyway on the the whole reason for this post! Here are the facts at 18 months!

How big: (TBD, going to the doctor Tuesday so more to come!)

Activities I love: Singing, dancing, opening all the doors and drawers in the whole house, going outside and walking around the block, putting on his coat and taking it off 500 times in a row. He loves going up and down the stairs, putting on hats, taking buckets of stuff and pouring them over his head, wearing mommy and daddy's sweatshirts or coats, walking through puddles, coloring, reading, gathering all his animals together and wandering through the house, watching Peppa Pig!

Favorite Words: Puppy, baby, Mommy, Daddy, Ta (Katana), Benee (Bernie),  help (he says helpa), please (Pees pees), Bye Bye, Hi!, outside (side, side), coat, backpack and cracker

Favorite Foods: Eggs, Waffles (he's just like mommy), Milk, Strawberries, Blueberries and Raspberries. Yogurt, Veggie straws, Crackers, Cheese, and my spinach sausage pasta

Least Favorite Things: Letting us brush his teeth (he is so into being independent!), going inside from playing or having to stop doing something so we can leave/head out. He starts getting very whinny and I know it's only a matter of time before we will have a full on temper tantrum when we least expect it...

Gestures: He loves giving hugs, grabbing your hands and pulling you towards where he wants to go, waving, bounce in my bed and then throwing himself on his belly. He also loves to be tickled!

Other fun facts: I can't believe how easily he picks up stuff. The other day I was singing a goofy song I made up about strawberries, when I asked him a few days later about having some strawberries for desert for dinner, he started singing the funny song I made up. I mean how do they remember those things? Proud momma moment right there. Now if he could just sing some thing like the ABC's then I would feel like a productive momma. Soon enough I'm sure!

I know this is very cliche but I have to Keegan is amazing and I am such a lucky mama. He is such a blessing and I am so lucky to have him in my life.

Watching Keegan Grow: 15 months

How can he be 15 months old already?

This kid has become a little man in such a short amount of time. Fun fact number one: He's a lefty. It's for sure. He does everything with his left hand. It's kinda exciting since it's something I know came from my side of my family (my dad is ambidextrous and my sister is a lefty as well).

Here are the rest of the facts at 15 months:

How big: 31.5 inches tall, 24.5 lbs (to be continued, we have a his check up on Wednesday. I'm guessing 32 inches tall and 29 lbs. This kid is heavy....)

Activities I love: Reading books with us, playing with my hats, playing hide and seek, talking on my fake phone, watching Peppa Pig in the afternoon, bath time, hanging out in is chair, climbing on the couch, giving hugs, playing with his airplane, climbing up and down the stairs

Favorite Words: Ber Ber (our cat Bernie), Tana (our dog Katana), Up, Car, Cacker (Cracker), Hat, Ber Berry (strawberry), Squu (squirrel), Bow (bowl), Na na (Banana), Chee (Cheese) Hot, More (in sign language-he claps his hands together, over and over and over....haha), Na Na (nigh night)

Favorite Food: Banana, Strawberries, Cheese, PB & J, Fish sticks, Mac and Cheese, Broccoli, Pasta, Waffles, Eggs, Yogart, Veggie Straws, Grilled Cheese

Least Favorite Things: Being down on his level (he wants be to held A LOT!!), eating meat, saying momma (it breaks my heart...), staying seated in the high chair, riding his electronic four wheeler we got him for Christmas

Gestures: Holding his hands out like where'd it go?, Showing where his head, belly, ears, toes and eyes are, patting his head to show where a hat goes, waving bye bye to the airplane, saying hot and then blowing on food (he actually end up blowing up not on the food. It's crazy cute!)

Other fun facts: Keegan sleeps from 7 to 6:30 everyday with one nap, runs, giggles so hard when you tickle him, loves to jump up and down on the bed, his way of begging for food is worse than the dog (he stands there, says ugh continuously, and wiggles up and down until you give in). It's really hard not to give in to him all the time.

This little man really knows how to keep us on our toes, but I have to say that this has been a super fun stage. Believe me, he is far from perfect and some days the constant whining gets to me, but I don't love him any less for it. He is still amazing and is growing up way to fast.

Growing Up, Moving forward

We are going through some transitions in this house. More about that another time. I just want to keep my eyes looking forward.

Keegan seems to be growing up more and more before our eyes. In the last week alone he has learned to shake his head yes and no, crawling his way out of the high chair, saying a few new words (car, book, banana) and has started being even more into his books. I don't think I know another almost 15 month old who loves to read this much. He will bring you book after book for hours. He already has shown us some of his favorites.

He has become an amazing little person. I can't believe the amount of personality this little guy has for such a small amount of life he has had. Today he finally said Momma, something I have been waiting for for a long time now. He must know that I need him to say it more than ever right now.

Is it just me or is he getting even cuter as the weeks go by, Looks so much like Daddy to me, but he says Keegan looks like me. I love looking at him and seeing my dad. We both agree on that one. He looks alot like my dad. And I love that more than anyone would know.

I can't not believe how much I love this little man. He loves me, he needs me, he will never leave me. I am so blessed to be his momma!
